UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh received approval from the city planning commission to expand its heart institute by 50,000 square feet, the Tribune-Review reported July 13. 

Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health will open its Sutter Health Ambulatory Care Center and Surgery Center on Aug. 1, one of more than two dozen outpatient facilities it plans to open in Northern California over the next four years.

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger announced $900 million in capital commitments to nearly double the size of its Wilkes Barre, Pa.-based Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
