Texas system to close hospital, freestanding ER

Bryan, Texas-based CapRock Health System is closing its Bryan-based CapRock Hospital and freestanding CapRock 24-Hour Emergency Care center in College Station, Texas, on Dec. 13, KBTX reported Nov. 19.

"It has been our privilege to provide patients with the highest quality emergency and hospital care," Lon Young, MD, CMO of CapRock Health System, said in a statement shared with KBTX. "Due to a combination of economic and market factors, it is no longer feasible for CapRock to continue our operations."

CapRock is a locally owned healthcare system that comprises the hospital and freestanding ER. The hospital is a fully licensed facility that features inpatient care, an emergency room and imaging suites. CapRock's freestanding emergency care center is a hospital outpatient department in connection with CapRock Hospital, according to the health system's website

The system plans to provide their employees with severance packages and resources to aid in the transition, according to an internal memo shared with the publication.
