Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking approval for a new outpatient center next to its St. Francis Medical Center hospital in Midlothian, Va., a suburb of Richmond, according to a July 17 Richmond BizSense report.
Bon Secours, which bought the 7.8-acre plot for $2.2 million in 2006, is expected to file a certificate-of-need request Aug. 1, the report said. The planned facility would have two operating rooms as well as medical offices.
The move represents further capital expenditure plans at St. Francis Medical Center, where work is underway on a $108 million expansion project designed to add 55 beds and to be completed early next year, according to the report.
The system also opened a $25.6 million emergency department in nearby Chester in 2022 as an extension of the St. Francis facility.
