1. University of Louisville Hospital Delays Partner Decision Again
University of Louisville (Ky.) delayed its decision on a new partner for University Hospital until late September.
2. Backus Corp. May Cede Control to Hartford HealthCare in Proposed Affiliation
The agreement between Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare and Norwich, Conn.-based Backus Corp., parent company of Backus Healthcare System, will give Hartford HealthCare control over Backus Healthcare hospitals, including the power to veto capital projects and hire or remove administrators.
3. NYU Langone, Continuum Health Merger Talks Collapse After Mount Sinai's Partnership Offer
Merger discussions between two of New York City's biggest hospitals systems — NYU Langone Medical Center and Continuum Health Partners — broke down abruptly after Continuum received a competing offer from another New York City-based hospital system, Mount Sinai Medical Center.
4. Highline Medical Center in Washington State Sells Specialty Campus, Seeks Partner
Highline Medical Center in Burien, Wash., is selling its Tukwila (Wash.) Specialty Campus and negotiating a partnership with another hospital organization.
5. Thompson Health Formally Affiliates with University of Rochester Med Center
University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center and Canandaigua, N.Y.-based Thompson Health signed an official agreement making Thompson Health an affiliate of URMC.
6. Capella Healthcare, Saint Thomas Health Restructure Management for New Partnership
Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare announced a management restructuring for the four hospitals that are now part of the Capella-Saint Thomas health system.
7. Sanford Health, Medcenter One Merger Passes Antitrust Review
Fargo, N.D., and Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health received permission from federal antitrust officials to acquire Bismarck, N.D.-based Medcenter One Hospital.
8. Memorial Hospital of Adel in Georgia to Change Name Following Sale
Memorial Hospital of Adel (Ga.) will change its name to Cook Medical Center-A Campus of Tift Regional Medical Center on July 2, to reflect its recent purchase by The Hospital Authority of Tift County, which owns and operates Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga.
9. North Kansas City Hospital May Undergo Sale or Affiliation
The city council of North Kansas City, Mo., voted to consider a sale or merger for North Kansas City Hospital.
10. Columbia Memorial Hospital Receives $2.4M Grant, Considers Purchasing Greene Medical Arts Center
Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N.Y., intends to put a $2.4 million grant toward potentially buying and renovating the Greene Medical Arts building in Jefferson Heights, N.Y.
11. Salinas Valley Memorial Extends LOI Submission Deadline for HCA, Natividad Medical Center
Salinas (Calif.) Valley Memorial Healthcare System agreed to extend the deadline for submittal of letters of intent from Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA and Salina, Calif.-based Natividad Medical Center to July 2.
