Glendive Medical Center Pursues Management Agreement With Billings Clinic

Glendive (Mont.) Medical Center is pursuing a collaborative management agreement with Billings (Mont.) Clinic, according to a Billings Gazette report.

More than a year ago, Glendive Medical began assessing how a potential collaboration could benefit the hospital and the community. Three months ago, the medical center announced its intent to explore an affiliation specifically with Billings Clinic, according to the report. Since then, Glendive Medical administrators have hosted a series of employee and public forums about the proposed affiliation. The medical center's board of directors is scheduled to meet June 21 to discuss next steps.

According to the report, the potential affiliation has received opposition, albeit from what hospital and community leaders say is a "vocal minority." Dave Linn, chairman of the Glendive Medical's board of directors, told the Billings Gazette that a collaboration with Billings Clinic would not mean "selling the medical center, transferring ownership or relinquishing governance and local decision-making. Jobs would not be affected any more than they would be through the normal course of daily operations."
