1. TriHealth Purchases Family Medical Group in Cincinnati
Cincinnati-based health system TriHealth acquired the primary care-focused Family Medical Group. The 10-physician medical group based in Cincinnati had invested in an electronic medical record system and is a certified patient-centered medical home
2. U of Colorado Health to Partner With Urology Center of the Rockies
The Colorado Health Medical Group, part of the newly formed University of Colorado Health, will partner with the Urology Center of the Rockies. University of Colorado Health is a new health system resulting from a partnership between Fort Collins, Colo.-based Poudre Valley Health System and University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora.
3. Franciscan Alliance Discussing Purchase of Large Indiana Physician Group
Mishawaka, Ind.-based health system Franciscan Alliance is negotiating a purchase agreement with Medical Specialists, the largest independent physician group in Northwest Indiana. The medical group includes 50 physician specialists and 330 employees at a dozen locations. Franciscan Alliance operates four hospitals in Northwest Indiana and one in Chicago Heights, Ill.
4. Covenant Health Brings on Multispecialty Medical Group in Tennessee as Affiliate
Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health has brought on the Crossville (Tenn.) Medical Group as an affiliate of Covenant's physician practice organization. The multispecialty group of 12 physicians will retain its practice name.
5. Glendale Adventist Launches Physicians Network in California
Glendale (Calif.) Adventist Medical Center launched a physicians' network to acquire physicians' practices. California law permits hospitals to acquire and employ physicians if they create a foundation, which Glendale Adventist has done with the new Adventist Health Physicians Network.
6. SSM Health Care Acquires Shawnee Medical Center in Oklahoma
St. Louis-based SSM Health Care acquired multispecialty medical group Shawnee (Okla.) Medical Center Clinic. Effective June 17, the 27-physician medical group with 220 employees and 13 mid-level providers became part of SSM Health Care of Oklahoma, changing its name to St. Anthony Physicians Shawnee.
7. Florida Hospital Purchases Winter Park Urology
Florida Hospital Medical Group, affiliated with Florida Hospital in Orlando, purchased Winter Park Urology Associates and Urological Ambulatory Surgery Center, also in Orlando. The practice includes 15 physicians and three nurse practitioners.
8. Blount Memorial Hospital Acquires East Tennessee Medical Group for $24M
Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tenn., announced plans to acquire East Tennessee Medical Group for $24 million. The Alcoa-based practice includes more than 40 physicians and includes primary care and 10 specialty services.
9. Intermountain Healthcare, Park City Clinic in Utah to Form ACO Post-Acquisition
Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare acquired the Park City (Utah) Clinic, and the two plan to form an accountable care organization.
10. Wheeling Hospital in West Virginia to Buy Physician Practice
Wheeling (W. Va.) Hospital will acquire a Primary Care One, a walk-in clinic in Wheeling. Vic Wood, MD, founder of Primary Care One, is selling his practice to the hospital for $1 million but plans to stay on as a physician at the clinic.
11. Douglas County Hospital in Minnesota to Buy Alexandria Clinic
Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minn., is set to purchase multispecialty practice Alexandria (Minn.) Clinic.
12. Jones Memorial Hospital in NY to Acquire Internist Practice
Jones Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, N.Y., will acquire the private practice of internist Richard Cudahy, MD. Under the agreement, Jones hospital will transfer all medical records in its name, including Cudahy's previous patients.
