Naperville, Ill.-based Edward Hospital & Health Services and Elmhurst (Ill.) Memorial Healthcare have announced (pdf) plans to merge, which would create one of the larger integrated health systems in the state.
Under the proposed merger, there would be a three-hospital health system — Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Memorial and Linden Oaks at Edward in Naperville. The parent boards of each entity agreed to enter into a letter of intent to merge last week. Current president and CEO of Edward, Pam Davis, would be named CEO of the new health system upon completion of the merger, according to the release.
The deal is subject to state and federal regulatory review. Once approved, the merger would be completed in mid-2013, according to the release.
