Pittsburgh-based health insurer Highmark and Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Jefferson Hills, Pa., finalized their affiliation deal.
2. Louisiana Children's Could Take Over LSU Public Hospital by June
Louisiana Children's Medical Center in New Orleans said it could take over the management of Interim LSU Public Hospital, also in New Orleans, by June 24.
3. Children's Hospital of San Antonio Finds Two New Partners
The Children's Hospital of San Antonio, part of the Christus Santa Rosa Health System based in the same city, announced agreements with two Houston partners, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital.
4. KentuckyOne Health to Manage All But Reproductive Care at Louisville's University Hospital
Louisville, Ky.-based hospital chain KentuckyOne formally took over management of University of Louisville Hospital, except for its Center for Women and Infants and the pharmacy.
5. Missouri Bill Would Make North Kansas City Hospital Independent Non-Profit
After residents voiced strong opposition to the city council's plan to sell North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital to a for-profit company, Missouri Sen. Ryan Silvey (R) put a bill forward that would enable the hospital to become an independent, non-profit corporation.
6. Scott County Hospital Sale in Tennessee Fails
Plans to sell and reopen Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tenn., fell through after would-be buyer SM Promen of Tennessee was unable to finance the required $3 million down payment.
7. Hoag, St. Joseph Health in California Finalize Deal to Form Covenant Health
Orange, Calif.-based St. Joseph Health and Newport Beach-based Hoag completed an affiliation in which the two organizations will now operate as Covenant Health Network.

Hancock, Mich.-based Portage Health signed a nonbinding letter of intent to form a joint venture with Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals.

Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton, Ga., approved a management affiliation with AnMed Health, based in Anderson, S.C., and is awaiting approval from Georgia's attorney general.

The Jefferson Parish Council — which oversees East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La., and West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La. — asked the state if it could lease the two hospitals.
