Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton, Ga., has approved a management affiliation with AnMed Health, based in Anderson, S.C., and is awaiting approval from Georgia's attorney general.
The 47-bed Elbert first signed a letter of intent with AnMed to affiliate this past June.
Under the agreement, AnMed will manage Elbert's operations for five years and will commit roughly $1.5 million in capital improvements, closing costs, equipment, physician recruitment and other expenses. AnMed will also build a new hospital, which may be designated as a critical access hospital.
According to an Anderson Independent Mail report, there will be no job losses at Elbert, and Elbert's CEO, CFO and CNO will become employees of AnMed.
