Yuma Regional in Arizona Restructures; 78 Employees Affected

Roughly 78 employees at Yuma (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center have been affected by layoffs or position relocations as the hospital restructures itself due to improved procedures and technology, according to a Yuma Sun report.

Thirty-three "core employees" have been affected by the restructuring. This includes seven positions filled by interim employees, the elimination of two unfilled positions and the layoff of 24 individuals.

Another 45 employees in adult acute-care services were affected, with all but three placed in other positions.

The hospital's recent adaptation of an electronic medical record was a large factor in the layoffs, according to the report.
