Lakeside Health System of Brockport, N.Y., has announced a "financial turnaround" plan involving layoffs and work hour reductions, according to a Democrat and Chronicle report.
About 10 employees will be laid off initially and another 25 will be eliminated within the next week or so, according to the report.
Also, up to 40 percent of Lakeside's 600 employees could be affected by reductions to their weekly hours for non-essential staffing from 40 hours to 35. "Non-essential staffing" generally refers to employees not directly involved with patient care.
Lakeside's Interim CEO Hugh Collins said the system recorded a budget deficit last year between $2.6 million to $2.8 million, according to the report.
