1. Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin to Cut 119 Jobs
The Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic announced plans in July to eliminate 119 jobs due to decreased patient demand and a sluggish economy.
2. Memorial Health Care in Tennessee to Lay Off 70 Employees
Memorial Health Care System in Chattanooga, Tenn., announced plans in late July to lay off approximately 70 people.
3. Gerald Champion Regional in New Mexico Lays Off 39 Employees
Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo, N.M., laid off 39 employees in mid-July.
4. Auburn Community Hospital in New York to Lay Off 25 Employees
Auburn (N.Y.) Community Hospital announced plans in mid-July to lay off about 25 employees due to a decline in patient volume.
5. Rockford Health System Eliminates 14 Jobs
Rockford (Ill.) Health System is eliminating 14 jobs and reducing the hours for 20 employees in non-patient care areas.
6. Sonora Regional Medical Center in California Lays Off 13 Employees
Sonora (Calif.) Regional Medical Center laid off 13 employees in August and is reducing overtime and work hours for other staff members.
7. Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in New York Lays Off 8 Employees
Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, N.Y., laid off eight full-time employees in July.
8. Millinocket Regional Hospital in Maine Lays Off 3, Shifts Employees to Part Time
Millinocket (Maine) Regional Hospital is planning to eliminate three employees and reduce hours for other staff.
9. SUNY-Downstate Begins Layoffs
State University of New York-Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn is laying off an undisclosed number of employees due to mounting financial pressure.
10. Highlands Hospital in Pennsylvania May Lay Off Employees After Competitor Gets Contract
Highlands Hospital in Connellsville, Pa., is preparing for layoffs after a competing hospital received permission to provide state-funded inpatient mental health services — something Highlands has provided most of in the past.
