Sonora (Calif.) Regional Medical Center has laid off 13 employees and is also reducing overtime and work hours for other staff members, according to a Union Democrat report.
Hospital CEO Jeff Eller said Sonora has experienced a 9 percent decrease in patient admissions in the first half of 2012 and is also struggling with lower medical reimbursements.
Prior to the layoffs, the hospital employed roughly 1,000 people, according to the report, and is the county's second-largest private employer.
