Eric Kleinert, MSN, RN, has been named chief administrative officer of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway (N.J.), effective Dec. 31.

While many hospital and health system CEOs who took on new roles in 2024 switched organizations or facilities, a few stood out for returning to a former workplace.

Molly Frick has been named interim chief human resources officer for Huntington, W.Va.-based Marshall Health Network, effective Jan. 2.

St. Louis-based Mercy has appointed John Mohart, MD, as executive vice president and COO, marking the first time a physician will fill this role at the 50-hospital health system.

Little Rock, Ark.-based CHI St. Vincent has appointed Garrett Lewis, MD, as market chief medical officer, according to a news release sent to Becker's Dec. 17. 

Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health, a five-hospital system, has promoted Melissa Shearer to the new role of vice president, strategy. 

Worcester, Mass.-based Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital promoted Samantha Gauvin to chief nursing officer.

Dave Tkachuck has been named president and CEO of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange (Ill.), effective Jan. 6.

Tyler Sherrill has been named CEO of Tenet Healthcare's Florida Coast Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, which is set to open in September 2025.

Among the CEO moves at hospitals and health systems across the U.S. that Becker's reported in 2024, some stood out for their brief tenures, while others were notable retirements from prominent health systems. Various other moves also piqued interest. 

Becker's has reported on nearly 200 CFO transitions this year, including several at prominent health systems. 

Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health has named Erin Miller vice president of revenue cycle integration, according to a post on her LinkedIn page. 

Stanford (Calif.) Medicine Children's Health appointed William Gallentine, DO, division chief of child neurology.

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth recently named chief nursing officers at two of the system's suburban hospitals, according to Dec. 12 and 13 LinkedIn posts. 

Matt Gal has been named CFO of AdventHealth Parker (Colo.), part of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth, effective Jan. 27.

After 17 years in the role, James Cunningham, MD, is retiring as executive vice president and chief medical officer at Cook Children's in Fort Worth, Texas. 

Erick Twyman is no longer serving as dual CEO and CFO of Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, Wyo., effective Dec. 10.

Jonathan Reiners has been appointed CEO of Chadron (Neb.) Community Hospital & Health Services, effective Jan. 6.

Nathan Nipper was named president and CEO of Boone, N.C.-based UNC Health Appalachian. 

Nari Gopala has been named chief digital officer of Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, according to a health system spokesperson.
