The Atlanta Board of Education approved a plan giving Atlanta public schools w access to telehealth services through Hazel Health, according to an Aug.14 report from WSB-TV Atlanta.
The contract is a year-to-year agreement for $15 per student or $500,000 each year between the Atlanta Board of Education and Hazel Health. Telehealth services provided to Atlanta students will cover both emotional and physical health, according to WSB-TV Atlanta.
"It is imperative that our scholars have access to physical and mental health services," Atlanta Public School Superintendent Lisa Herring, PhD, told the station. "Removing these barriers is a game-changer for us because, simply put, our scholars cannot reach their full academic potential if they are not well. I am grateful to our board for having the vision to make this commitment and invest in our schools and scholars."
