Montana hospital launches telemedicine services for neurology, stroke care

Missoula, Mont.-based Community Medical Center is partnering with telemedicine provider SOC Telemed on 24/7 neurology and stroke care coverage.

The 151-bed hospital will use SOC Telemed's tele-consults platform to virtually connect with neurology specialists, who can help assist CMC clinicians treating stroke patients. SOC Telemed's platform Telemed IQ is currently used by more than 500 U.S. hospitals.

"In rural states like Montana, it's not uncommon to experience physician shortages, especially in a specialty field such as neurology," said Alex Redfern, Community Medical Center emergency manager, according to a news release emailed to Becker's Hospital Review. "Utilizing SOC's physicians and Telemed IQ for general neuro- and emergent stroke-consults allows us to provide better and more timely care in situations where specialty physicians may otherwise not be available."
