St. Louis-based Homer G. Phillips Memorial Hospital has received approval from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to temporarily suspend its license due to a blood supply shortage, a state DOH spokesperson said in a Dec. 17 statement shared with Becker's.
The hospital, which opened in January, closed its inpatient hospital and emergency room the evening of Dec. 17, KMOV reported Dec. 17.
"The suspension was granted to allow them time to secure a reliable supply," the state DOH spokesperson said. "Our goal is to get them operational as soon as all of the health and safety minimums are met."
Becker's has reached out to Homer G. Phillips Memorial Hospital for comment and will update this story should more information become available.
