Best Buy is now selling telehealth technology company Tyto Care's portable patient examination device for virtual appointments.
Five things to know:
1. TytoHome is a handheld device that can examine the heart, lungs, skin, ears, throat and abdomen, as well as measure body temperature.
2. The device aims to support remote diagnosis of acute care conditions, including ear infections, allergies and upper respiratory infections.
3. After completing the exam, TytoHome users can log onto the telehealth company's virtual platform, powered by American Well, and send their results to a primary care provider for diagnosis and/or prescription.
4. In addition to Best Buy, Tyto Care is partnering with regional healthcare systems throughout the U.S. on telehealth services. The tech company is working with Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health to provide its patients with telehealth appointment access.
5. TytoHome costs $299 and is available for purchase on Best Buy's website and in select Best Buy stores.
