In the health care fundraising world, it’s major gift officers who are the face of the organization. And It’s no secret that the last two years have been especially tough on them.

Four healthcare organizations have honored their donors or their donors' loved ones in the last month by naming a facility after them:

Galveston-based University of Texas Medical Branch has named its medical school the John Sealy School of Medicine in honor of a late 19th century Texas entrepreneur and philanthropist and his foundation.

The Wistar Institute Cancer Center in Philadelphia is getting a new name after receiving a $10 million gift from Ronald Caplan, founder and president of PMC Property Group, and his wife Ellen, the center said March 8. 

Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern will use a $100 million donation to endow and support its School of Public Health, the university said this week.

UntiedHealth Group is making a pair of $500,000 donations through its philanthropic arm to organizations that will support Ukrainians during the country's invasion by Russia. 

Johnson City, Tenn.-based Ballad Health launched a $30 million fundraising campaign for a three-floor expansion to Niswonger Children's Hospital.

Nine gifts of $25 million or more have been made to healthcare organizations since the start of the new year, as reported on by Becker's.
