The Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, N.Y., has opened a new operating room in its obstetrical wing, according to an Adirondack Daily Enterprise report.
The $500,000 surgical suite will be used for Caesarian sections and includes an alcove where a newborn child can be stabilized. Hospital officials believe the OR will improve safety because physicians will have easier and faster access to an open room.
