UT Southwestern in Texas Lays Foundation of $800M University Hospital

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas has laid the foundation for its new $800 million University Hospital, which is slated to open in 2015, according to a hospital news release.

The new University Hospital will include 460 all-private patient rooms; office and support space for clinical researchers; an integrated electronic health records system; operating room robotics and an onsite education center.

The hospital will replace the current University Hospital — St. Paul, which opened in 1963 and cannot be expanded or renovated to handle growing capacity needs or medical technologies.
