North Stonington (Conn.) Health Center is closing its urgent care, laboratory and radiology services today as it prepares for a possible closure of the entire center by April 17, according to a Mystic River Press report.
Fifty-two employees are also being laid off.
Physical therapy and rehabilitation services will continue and physicians with offices in the center will continue to see patients.
North Stonington Health Center is part of Westerly (R.I.) Hospital, which is currently under receivership. The hospital previously announced it will stop funding the center due to financial difficulties but is seeking a new buyer for the facility. If a new partner is not found, the center could close by April 17.
