Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, part of Milwaukee-based Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin, announced it is planning to build a new $117 million facility and renovate existing space on its academic medical center campus in Wauwatosa, Wis., to address surgical, outpatient and inpatient capacity needs.
The hospital received 6,000 patient transfers needing an advanced level of care in 2011, a 27 percent increase from 2010, according to the release.
The hospital proposed to build the new 480,000-square-foot facility immediately west of Froedtert & The Medical College Clinical Cancer Center. The building will include Froedtert & The Medical College Heart and Vascular Center and Froedtert & The Medical College Transplant Center.
If Froedtert receives approval, it would begin construction before the end of the year and would plan to complete the project in 2014.
