VCU Health launches hospital-at-home program

Richmond, Va.-based VCU Health has launched a new program that provides at-home hospital-level care to patients with acute care needs.

The program, dubbed Home Hospital, provides patients with acute conditions such as sepsis and pneumonia the following at-home care, according to a Jan. 17 release from VCU:

  • Video and remote patient monitoring.

  • Physician oversight.

  • In-person visits from acute-care nurses and other staff.

  • Services and supplies delivered straight to a patient's home.

VCU Health says this program aims to serve nearly 2,000 patients in its first year.
