University of Iowa Health Care scales AI assistant to entire workforce

University of Iowa Health Care, based in Iowa City, is expanding the use of Nabla's ambient AI technology to its entire workforce following a successful pilot program.

Nabla's AI-powered assistant streamlines clinical documentation, helping to reduce the administrative burden on healthcare providers, according to a Sept. 17 news release. After a five-week pilot, the health system decided to scale the tool, citing a 26% reduction in clinician burnout.

"We conducted an extensive search for an ambient AI solution that could move the needle with the clinical documentation process and experience," James Blum, MD, chief health information officer and associate professor of anesthesiology at University of Iowa Physicians said in the release. "As an academic medical center, it is critical for us to continue advancing clinical innovation to provide current care teams with better experiences and shape the medical field to be more attractive for future generations. We found Nabla's ambient AI technology helps us meet these goals and we look forward to seeing the benefits of rolling out the platform system-wide."
