Tennessee health system strikes partnership to deploy AI-driven virtual nursing

Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services has partnered with software company Care.ai to implement the company's Virtual Nursing platform at Albuquerque, N.M.-based Lovelace Medical Center.

The artificial intelligence-powered Virtual Nursing platform allows virtual nurses to manage a wide variety of patient care tasks that do not require physical proximity, according to a Dec. 13 press release from Care.ai. The platform can complete tasks such as routine monitoring, documentation, education, precepting and compliance reporting through in-room sensors and artificial intelligence autonomous inferencing.

The installation of the platform at Lovelace aims to streamline clinical workflows to improve patient care and experience while supporting the nursing workforce.

"By integrating this AI-powered technology into our care delivery model, we believe we can relieve some of the burden carried by nurses and ensure our team members are able to continue providing the best care for patients while also taking care of themselves," said Marty Bonick, CEO of Ardent Health Services.
