At Pearisburg, Va.-based Carilion Giles Community Hospital, two Moxie robots have started to make their daily rounds.
The robots are intended to complete non-patient facing tasks, like delivering medication from the pharmacy, said a Jan. 17 report in WSLS 10 News. The robots are intended to alleviate clinician workload, and allow them to spend more time focusing on patients.
Carilion Giles is being used as a test site, and, if successful, more hospitals in the area will roll out the technology.
Chastity Fontaine, a clinical leader at the hospital, said "It gives me back time. I can move on more quickly to the next patient without having to stop, go deliver my things, come back, regroup and start again.”
