Mass General Brigham, UW Health, BayCare: 7 Big Tech partnerships

Health systems continue to look to Big Tech to help with their digital transformations and artificial intelligence projects. Here are seven partnerships Becker's reported on in the past month.

1. Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health has participated in an ambient notes pilot in conjunction with Microsoft's Nuance DAX Copilot, Becker's reported July 25.

2. Microsoft, Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham, and Madison, Wis.-based University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health said July 24 they are working together to advance AI in medical imaging.

3. Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare said July 18 it is embedding generative AI from Microsoft Copilot into the tools that staff use every day.

4. Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System's St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, Fla., is the second system to use Amazon's Just Walk Out technology in its cafe, the Tampa Bay Times reported July 11.

5. Nurses play a crucial role in shaping the use of AI-powered patient communications tools from Microsoft and Epic at Madison, Wis.-based UW Health, Chero Goswami, chief information and digital officer at UW Health, told Becker's for a June 26 story.

6. Amazon Web Services said June 26 it pledged to commit $1 million each to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Washington, D.C.-based Children's National Hospital, and Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Children's Hospital to advance pediatric and children's healthcare. Children's National is using the funding to hire 30 additional positions focused on AI, Washington Business Journal reported July 11.

7. Indianapolis-based Community Health Network said June 25 it is investing in Microsoft's Nuance Communications as well as a deployment of Microsoft Azure cloud services.
