Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare is partnering with medtech company Augmedix to expand the use of artificial intelligence-powered ambient documentation in its clinical settings.
The technology works to transcribe conversations between patients and clinicians and embed the notes into the EHR.
HCA is pilot testing the technology in the emergency department of two hospitals and plans to expand into two more emergency departments in the first half of the year, according to an April 20 Augmedix news release.
Along with the partnership, HCA participated in a $12 million investment round for Augmedix.
"This technology has the potential to revolutionize the way documentation occurs at the point of care, and this partnership and investment is part of our broader strategy to use technology to support our physicians and nurses and enhance patient care," Michael Schlosser, MD, senior vice president of HCA Healthcare's department of care transformation and innovation, said in a separate April 20 news release from Augmedix.
