While consumers are hesitant to utilize generative AI for their own health research, they have a strong trust in their physicians to effectively leverage these tools in delivering care, a Sept. 26 survey from Deloitte found.
In March, Deloitte Center for Health Solutions conducted a survey of 2,000 U.S. consumers to assess their view on AI in healthcare.
Here are four things to know from the survey:
- Thirty percent of respondents expressed distrust in the information offered by generative AI-enabled health and wellness tools, marking a rise from 23% in 2023.
- The skepticism of AI-enable health and wellness tools come largely from millennials and baby boomers.
- Seventy-four percent of respondents regard their physicians as the most reliable source for information on healthcare treatment options.
- Of the respondents who are not currently using generative AI, 64% support their healthcare providers adopting it for care delivery. A majority are comfortable with physicians using the technology to share information on new treatments (71%), interpret diagnostic results (65%) and even make diagnoses for conditions and illnesses (53%).
