Cleveland Clinic announced that it is joining the AI Alliance, a group launched by IBM and Meta and dedicated to artificial intelligence innovation.
The AI Alliance is focused on creating an open research environment between different companies focusing on AI innovation. The partnership will also work to develop benchmarks and evaluation standards for AI safety, according to a Dec. 5 IBM news release. In the beginning, the Alliance will start by developing working groups across several AI-focused areas.
Besides the Cleveland Clinic, Oracle, Harvard and Dell Technologies are among the participants in the AI Alliance.
"We are pleased to become a founding member of the AI Alliance. As a leader in healthcare AI, we recognize that it has the potential to quickly accelerate the pace of medical research and enhance patient care," Tom Mihaljevic, MD, CEO and president of the Cleveland Clinic, said in the news release. "AI capabilities are now constantly growing and improving, and it is critical that organizations from diverse fields come together to help advance AI discoveries and technologies while also addressing concerns around security and safety. We are looking forward to working on these important issues collaboratively with the Alliance members."
