Atrium Health to open $1.5B innovation district in '25

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health's $1.5 billion innovation district is on target to open next year.

The 20-acre downtown Charlotte project, currently under construction, will include a new 14-story, Wake Forest University School of Medicine campus expected to welcome its first class of students in fall 2025, an Atrium Health spokesperson told Becker's.

"It's anticipated The Pearl innovation district's collaborative, innovation-focused environment will incubate new processes and technologies and swiftly advance life sciences education, training and research," the spokesperson said.

A 10-story research building housing the North American headquarters of Atrium Health surgical training subsidiary IRCAD is also set to open in 2025. IRCAD North America has "already begun to attract innovative medical device technology and imaging companies from around the world, with multiple commitments in place," the spokesperson said.
