Digital health startup Ovatient has launched a new virtual care platform at one of the company's two founding health systems.
Ovatient, formed in 2022 via a partnership between Cleveland-based MetroHealth System and Charleston, S.C-based MUSC Health, rolled out virtual care May 6 to MetroHealth patients.
Ovatient, which builds its applications into Epic and MyChart, offers virtual urgent care, same day-primary care and scheduled primary care through its nationwide team of virtual providers. Ovatient and MetroHealth also provide same-day prescription delivery. Services are billed through MetroHealth and covered by insurance.

"As a national leader in value-based care, we want our patients to think of MetroHealth first when they need access to high-quality primary care. Ovatient helps deliver on that goal."
Ovatient CEO Michael Dalton stated that "expanding and extending our partners' clinical offerings" will help them "compete against new market entrants."
Later this year, Ovatient plans to start delivering virtual care to MUSC Health patients and launch a digital health platform with virtual specialty care access, clinical decision support, and features to boost the patient experience and patient insights.
