Copley Hospital in Morrisville, Vt., and the United Nurses and Allied Professionals Local 5109 ratified a new three-year contract June 3.
The contract includes a wage freeze in the first year and a 2 percent cost-of-living adjustment in the second and third years. The contract is expected to save the hospital more than $500,000, according to the news release. The wage freeze applies to all hospital staff.
"Both parties demonstrated a willingness to address the fiscal pressures Copely is facing while keeping quality at the forefront," Sandy Grace, RN, president of Copley UNAP, said in the release.
"Very candid conversations were held about patient care, the pressures of healthcare reform, the fiscal health of the hospital and the need to reduce expenses," Mel Patashnick, president of Copley Hospital, said in the report.
The contract runs through May 28, 2016.
