Workers at Morton Hospital in Taunton, Mass., have ratified their first union contract, according to a Taunton Gazette report.
Morton Hospital workers joined the union in October, and now more than 500 workers are under the contract with 1199 Service Employees International Union United Healthcare Workers East, according to the report.
Morton Hospital is a member of Boston-based Steward Health Care System, and 1199 SEIU represents workers at several other Steward hospitals. All Steward employees in the union have a master contract, and each hospital has additional side contracts as well, the Taunton Gazette reported.
The union contract for Morton employees includes overall wage increases and job protection language, among other features, according to the report.
