WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y., and UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., have signed a strategic affiliation agreement to expand access to healthcare services and resources in the region.
Under the agreement, both WCA Hospital and UPMC Hamot will work collaboratively on initiatives that will enhance healthcare delivery in the local region. WCA Hospital will retain its separate identity from UPMC Hamot, remain an independent, non-profit hospital and retain its independence and assets, according to the release.
WCA Hospital and UPMC Hamot will begin working on collaborations in a number of support and clinical areas. According to the release, one of the key benefits and top priorities of the affiliation is to expand physician recruitment efforts in medical and surgical areas as well as in primary care, which includes family practice and general internal medicine. Also in progress through the affiliation will be physician-to-physician consults via telemedicine.
