Omaha, Neb.-based Alegent Health and Creighton University in Omaha have decided to reflect their strategic affiliation with a new name — Alegent Creighton Health, effective Sept. 1.
Alegent Health and Creighton University Medical Center announced an affiliation in April and have been working toward finalizing the deal by Sept. 1.
The new name was approved by Alegent Health's board of directors and filed with the state of Nebraska Aug. 2. The filing marks the beginning of the last stage of the acquisition and affiliation process, according to the release.
As part of the affiliation, Creighton University's physician practice, Creighton Medical Associates in Omaha, will also become part of Alegent Health and will be renamed Alegent Creighton Clinic.
"As the new names reflect, these new healthcare entities will further the missions of both faith-based organizations by improving local healthcare and transforming medical education for the benefit of physicians, students and the communities we serve," said Timothy R. Lannon, president of Creighton University.
