Effective April 1, Elmore Medical Center in Mountain Home, Idaho, will officially integrate with St. Luke's Health System, based in Boise, Idaho.
Early in 2012, EMC and St. Luke's signed a letter of intent to merge, and in May 2012, the public voted to approve the merger. This past January, both organizations approved a definitive agreement. EMC, a 25-bed critical access hospital that had previously been managed by St. Luke's, will now be St. Luke's Elmore.
EMC will still be part of a hospital district, which collects taxes to cover charity and uncompensated care. St. Luke's will also invest an unspecified amount of money for construction and general capital improvements.
