High Point Regional Merges With UNC Health Care

Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care announced it has completed its merger with High Point (N.C.) Regional Health System.

As part of the agreement, effective April 1, UNC will be the sole owner of the health system and pledge $150 million for capital improvements and $50 million for a new community health fund. The agreement includes no layoffs or changes in pay or benefits for employees for at least one year.

The 351-bed High Point Regional will keep its current name but change its logo and brand to reflect its UNC ownership, and its board members will rotate out and be replaced by UNC-approved members.
