Officials finalized an asset purchase agreement between Scott County (Tenn.) Hospital and Pioneer Health Services, a critical access hospital chain based in Magee, Miss., according to a report by the Independent Herald.
This agreement comes three weeks after a discontinued purchase by SM Promen of Tennessee, which failed to come up with the required funds by the already-extended Feb. 28 deadline.
Pioneer's proposal to purchase the 25-bed Scott County Hospital's assets for $100,000 was informally approved by the county's mayor earlier this month. According to its previously announced plans, Pioneer expects to reopen the shuttered hospital and restart operations within two months of the finalized deal.
