New negotiations to purchase Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tenn., have begun, with a letter of intent to partner with Magee, Miss.-based Pioneer Health Services being circulated between the organizations' leaders, according to a report by WATE news in Knoxville., Tenn.
The latest talks come on the heels of a failed sale of the hospital to SM Promen of Tennessee, which failed to meet the extended purchase deadline last week.
Scott County closed its doors last year after its former operator, affiliated with Naples, Fla.-based hospital chain Health Management Associates, allowed the contract with the hospital to expire.
If the $100,000 deal is approved by the county commission and the attorney general's office, Pioneer expects to open the hospital within 45 to 60 days, restarting all hospital departments and potentially hiring 25 employees, according to the report.
