Laurens County (S.C.) Health Care System's board of trustees has voted to enter into exclusive affiliation negotiations with Greenville (S.C.) Hospital System.
Laurens County Health Care System began considering an affiliation in July 2011. The board sent out a request for proposal which resulted in five proposals. According to the release, Greenville Hospital System is a natural fit to share economies of scale, improve health services and build compatibility between medical staffs.
The hospitals will now negotiate a final agreement. If the negotiations result in a partnership, the affiliation will assist in establishing a long-term strategy for LCHCS' operational and financial success in enhancing healthcare services in Laurens County, according to the report.
