Hawaii Health Systems Corp. in Honolulu is exploring a public-private partnership with non-profit Banner Health in Phoenix, according to a Pacific Business News report.
Although talks are preliminary, HHSC could utilize Banner's resources to run its public hospitals in Maui, Hawaii, and Lanai, Hawaii. According to the report, a partnership with Banner could also help HHSC face numerous financial challenges, such as a lack of scale and the inability to keep up with healthcare reform.
