Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., a 506-bed facility, is forming a corporate affiliation with 40-bed Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, N.Y., according to a Post-Standard report.
Community Memorial Hospital hopes the affiliation will help attract more physicians, upgrade its information-technology systems, improve its quality of care and stabilize its finances, according to the report. In turn, Community Memorial will refer patients to Crouse for cardiac catheterization, vascular surgery and other specialized services.
Crouse already provides IT support and anesthesiology services to Community Memorial through a relationship developed before the affiliation.
Under the agreement, Community Memorial will remain a separate hospital with Crouse as its parent corporation.
