1. Ozarks Community Hospital in Springfield, Mo., is no longer physician-owned after physicians divested their shares due to healthcare reform restrictions on expansion.
2. A subsidiary of Community Health Systems entered into a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Scranton, Pa.-based Mercy Health Partners from Cincinnati-based Catholic Health Partners.
3. AMH Cath Labs — a joint venture between Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington and its cardiologists — will open a physician-led heart hospital, also in Arlington. Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital is comprised of 48 beds and will offer advanced services for the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular conditions.
4. Valley General Hospital in Monroe, Wash., is considering a partnership and asking eight healthcare organizations if they are interested. Deals could include providing additional medical services, leasing the hospital or buying it. Interested organizations will have approximately a month to respond.
