Cigna, Banner Health Launch Collaborative Accountable Care Initiative

Cigna and Phoenix, Ariz.-based Banner Health Network have joined in a collaborative accountable care initiative, effective Nov. 1.

The program will benefit more than 20,000 individuals covered by a Cigna health plan who receive care from physicians affiliated with Banner Health in Arizona.

Registered nurses, employed by Banner Health, will serve as clinical care coordinators in the program and will help patients with chronic conditions navigate the healthcare system, schedule appointments and provide health education. Physicians will monitor and coordinate all aspects of patients' medical care.
