Inland Hospital in Waterville, Maine, has laid off 10 of its 600 employees, according to a Kennebec Journal report.
The hospital eliminated 28 positions, but 18 of those were either vacant or restructured. Inland Hospital President John Dalton said the cuts were due to national trends of lower reimbursement and declined patient admissions.
Along with the workforce reduction, Inland Hospital is also closing its care clinic in the local Walmart.
