Physicians at Corona (Calif.) Regional Medical Center have voted in support of a no-confidence vote and have requested the immediate resignation of CEO Kevan Metcalfe, according to a report by The Press-Enterprise.
The physicians are asking for Mr. Metcalfe's resignation because of his "antagonistic management practices," according to the report.
The friction between Mr. Metcalfe and the hospital's physicians began when the hospital attempted to contract out for physician services with another company to save money, according to the report. The move would have cost about 30 physicians their jobs.
Physicians are also concerned about how patient safety would be affected by the job cuts, according to the report.
A hospital spokeswoman said the medical center does not comment on the internal affairs of its staff, according to the report.
