Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland Calif., has reached labor agreements with its nurses and other employees.
ACMC and the Service Employees International Union negotiated separate contacts for nurses and for general unit employees, such as pharmacists and nursing assistants. Both contracts will expire March 31, 2014.
Highlights that are common to both contracts include up to a 9 percent wage increase over the life of the contracts and a defined contribution plan for part-time employees with a matching contribution of up to 3 percent.
Nurses will also see the implementation of a single pay schedule for all staff registered nurses and charge nurses as well as established parameters for a clinical ladder to reward highly skilled and educated nurses.
