Saint Louis University Hospital announced it will break ground on the first outpatient bone marrow transplant center in the region.
The center, which will be located in the Saint Louis University Cancer Center, aims to increase patients' access to bone marrow transplants. Bone marrow transplants will be used to treat patients with leukemia, lymph node tumors, aplastic anemia, multiple myeloma and certain inherited blood diseases.
The outpatient center will be fully operational by the fall.
